Dear Sister Maggie & Wess.

We was awful glad to read your letter & little Deanes birthday card.

I know I can’t write so much news nor write such an interesting letter, but if I do the best I can you won’t mine will you.

Deane was awful fond of his birthday card. I think the world of him. He was 7 this Feb 20 & likes school fine. He is the smartest one of all & the worst spoiled. I tell them that Nina looks just like you. It is the best age of them all to work or anything & today is her birthday. We are having a little party tonite.

We are thinking of moving away from the crowd. We only live 6 or 7 mi. from the ocean & in the edge of Vancouver. It would scare the children if they conquered learning here. I have one house that ain’t rented on the farm & would like to be over there in summer time but it would be so cold in the winters. We may go 300 or 400 mi. inland N.E. to an awful good fruit country & a nice climate.

Yes we have give up her visiting. Your nice long letter was just like having a visit only we couldn’t see you & I would like to see your turkeys. It might be alright for Jen to raise turkeys, but Wess you

should tell her again to not worry about her mtg.[mortgage?] and sell her farm for whatever it will bring. I wonder how much her mtg. is. I guess that Colo. deal took her money. My boys will soon be to old to sign up but their boys & Goldie might have to go. Fay will be 46 the 26 at next mo. & Wayne will be 45 next Feb 3. It don’t seem possible.

I remember Maggie Costin (Uncle Bobs girl) but I never heard of Maud before me & [???] & Cora visited Maggie Costin & she went with us to see Uncle Bobs place. I wanted to see it as I & Stuart went down to visit Uncle Bobs once, when Dealia was a girl & at home. It is to bad they die so young.

Yes you wrote before about going to Chicago last fall. I wish I had of been with you, but you should go to see Bessie. She wrote us. She hoped you would go last fall after you sold your turkeys.

Our children has all had the measles, but not the mumps, but they are all around us so we expect them soon. They closed one school here on acct of mumps[?]

I am sorry you like Linberg[Lindbergh] (Hitlers pal). It it hadn’t of been for him & lot more like him our Good President would have been ready for war & could

of saved millions of lives that we will lose now before we get ready & if we had of been ready the Japs might never of conquered.

I have been away from U.S. 28 years, but I still think the good old U.S. is the best & strongest country in the world, & have the best man in the world for President, & maybe Joe Stalin is the next best. I know he is the next smartest.

But if you are right we must forget fatalities & fight the Japs. I believe Stalin will clean up the Germans. That’s the reason I love him the next best after our good President. We used to raise enough beens to blow up a train, but the weavle[weevil] got in everybodys beens[beans] here & now we only raise enough to use in summer & have so much fruit to can in dout came many only make pickles with them. We like the Kentucky rouder[?] the best. If you sent us some we couldn’t keep them over on account of the weavle, but thanks anyway. I get quite a kick out of my garden. I like to save seeds. I have to dry the corn in the house for seed. It raines so much her in the fall it woulden get hard out doors, & we dry corn in the area to use in winter.

Write again when you can. Love to all. Your Bro. Henry
