Logbook Diary July 28, 1955

Logbook Diary starting on July 28, 1955 from Redding to East Coast. Notes indicate Alice and Marve were on trip with Earl & Mary; there is no mention of Margaret.
I added maps along the trip totaling 3165 miles from Melrose Park (3590 from Redding). Vehicle got 13 mi/gallon. Near end of logbook, it looks like phone numbers (Naomi) and game.

Letter with Bailey genealogy to Mary Bailey Adair from 1st Cousin Edna

This 8 page letter contains many details about Bailey & Nichols ancestry. The parents of Elwood Bailey are William Haskell Bailey (1813-1903) and Mary Chadbourne Nichols (1831-1885) and was written March 15, 1964 to Mary Bailey Adair from her first cousin Edna, daughter of Elwood's brother Alfred Corwin Bailey and Minnie Riley.

The last page includes note written by Mary with special attention "to Dorothy".

1930 Postcard from Aunt Bess to Margaret

I was contacted by a collector of ship postcards, and he sent me one written by Arthur Cartland Bailey's wife Bess when he was teaching in Thailand. Aunt Bess was enroute from Kobe, Japan to Shanghai, China in 1930. A previous trip was made earlier with 2 children. In 1927, the SS President McKinley traveled from Manila (June 25, 1927) to Hong Kong (June 29), Shanghai (July 2), Kobe (July 5), Yokohama (July 7), and Victoria BC and Seattle arriving July 18, 1927.

1998 Phyllis Drescher Head

Letter written by my Mom’s 1st cousin, Phyllis Drescher. Phyllis and her son Norman experienced at Koinonia Farm in Georgia that her parents (Christian and Jennette) lived. Phyllis was married to Wilson Head and they had another son Gregory and 2 daughters. This is a letter that Phyllis shared in 1998 remembering The Chattanooga Bus Ride and Rosa Parks in 1954.

Mary Bailey (Adair) letter 1958

Letter written July 27, 1958 talks about July 4 in Milwaukee and Chippewa Falls tornado. Trip continues to Duluth and steam train ride. On to Paul Bunyan Park and the Badlands in South Dakota. Then Wall Drug Store, Mt. Rushmore, Wyoming, and Denver. Visited Maurice & June at Sam Adair home. Visited by Stuart & Helen Hoover. In Kansas stayed overnight with cousin (Barleen) before Mt. Ayr, Centerville, and Muscatine, Iowa. Mary & Earl working in Melrose Park, Illinois; their age is early 60's now. Pompilio family has NOT moved in next door yet; house is empty. Marvin & Tom gone to Comiskey Park to see Red Sox and White Sox. Earl interested in Volkswagen station wagon.
